I have been writing poems since I was eight years old. I enjoy writing free-form the most, but once in a while I will create a poem that has rhyme and/or meter. My story-in-verse, "Asleep" was selected by Wattpad's official poetry account.
What type of poetry do I create?
I create all kinds of poems. I often write free-form poems, but I also love to make up my own rhyme schemes and to explore more traditional types of poetry. The topics my poems usually dive into include mental illness, identity, and nature.
Where do I post my poetry?
I post my poems on Wattpad, on Tumblr/Cohost, and under the "My Writing" tab on this website. In the past, I created a lot of Storybird poems that you can find here.
When do I post my poetry?
I post my poetry sporadically throughout the year. You can follow me on Tumblr/Cohost to find out when I have a new poem available.
Why do I write poetry?
I write poetry because poems allow me to explore my characters and myself in a way that short stories and screenplays do not. With poetry, I have to be concise, but I also can be heavier on metaphors than I can be in other forms of creative writing. Poetry lets me be direct about emotions, but also still be metaphorical.
How do I write poetry?
After I come up with a main idea for my poem, I start writing. Depending on the theme of the poem, I may or may not use a rhyme scheme or keep track of the syllables in each line. If I do decide to have a set amount of syllables in every line, I use superscripts to keep track of the syllables.
