I am an author of several stories on Wattpad and Storybird. I have judged many contests on Figment as Elizabeth Ridge and have had many review shops as well. I spend most of my time on Wattpad reading stories for fun. My own short stories "The Fire" and "Veronica's Swollen Lake" were featured by Wattpad's official Short Story account, @WattpadShortStory.
What type of short stories do I write?
Most of my short stories are between 300 and 1000 words long, but occasionally, I will write a lengthier tale. The short stories I write tend to be slightly existential and dive into preadolescent and adolescent issues of identity and family.
I also write novellas that are often around 20,000 to 30,000 words. The topics of identity and family are still heavily present in those stories, but usually in a realistic fiction or fantasy context.
Where do I post my short stories?
My short stories can be found under the "My Writing" tab on this website as well as on Wattpad and on Tumblr/Cohost.
When do I post my short stories?
I post my short stories sporadically throughout the year. You can follow me on Tumblr/Cohost to find out when I have a new short story available.
Why do I write short stories?
Out of all the types of creative writing that I do, short story-writing is my favorite. I love being able to dive into the inner thoughts of a character while sneaking symbolic elements into descriptions. I cherish letting readers explore and relate to a fictional person's trials and see what motivates that person in a clear, yet cryptic way.
How do I write short stories?
I write my short stories by coming up with an idea and then writing the whole story. With my short stories, I engage in minimal planning. On the other hand, with my novellas, I commit to much planning. I start with designing the world, then the characters, and finally, the plot. Of course, I edit both my novellas and short stories after I finish the first drafts.
