Here's a little secret, I'm not actually good at visual art. I've been drawing since I was little, but isn't that everyone? At least where I live, elementary school teachers are constantly having their students illustrate their work and color little pictures. Even when I was in elementary school, I wasn't good at art. My mom told me my trees looked like broccoli. My sister always won the sibling art competitions.
Despite the fact I may be a failure, I still keep on drawing. Why? Well, I like art and I hope that if I practice it long enough and learn enough techniques, I may be able to be good. I already have a unique style I draw in and now I just want to improve. If you're also unconfident of your abilities, please keep on drawing. I promise that someday, you'll get to your goal. Just practice and apply. Good luck!

Welcome, everyone. As you've probably realized by now, I'm Darcy Ridge. I often go by Sunlake, so feel free to call me either of those names.
On this blog, I hope to be able to talk about my drawing process and my thoughts on particular pieces of my work. If you want me to critique your work, feel free to give me a comment. I'm new to this artist field, so please forgive me if it's not exactly how you wanted. I'll give thoughts as if I were just another viewer, but with more detail. Back to the blog. I will be posting every two to three months. I'll let you know when I'm posting on DeviantArt. In the time between, I will be working on my art pieces as well as the many other things I focus on. You can find all my drawings on DeviantArt and all my graphics on canva. If you want to comission a drawing or graphic, don't be afraid to contact me. I hope to see you soon! |
