Storybird is one of my favorite writing sites. How can it not be? You can do so much on that site. You can write novels, short stories, picture books, and poems, all inspired by art. I have to admit, the poems are my favorite part of Storybird. They are simple to start, force your brain to think, and are easily accesible to viewers. I love the simplicity of storybird poems. All you have to do is pick an image and you're given the words! The difficult part is getting the words to come together nicely. I've spent over an hour on some of my poems in the past, but I have to keep reminding myself that it doesn't have to be perfect. Sometimes imperfections can be beautiful. Finally, I love sharing my Storybird poems on my social media sites. They are fun for my followers to look at and often short, so I can write them down for those with sight disabilities. The response to them is almost always positive! Well, thanks for reading! I hope you go check out Storybird and create your own image-inspired art! See you next time!

Hello! Yep, it's April and I said I would see you in March. See my general big update for more information. Right now, I want to talk about my poem "I Understand My Dog". I had been wanting to write that poem for a while before I actually got around to the task. It all started with adoption. In recent years, I've had a lot of thoughts about the adoption process and more specifically, my own adoption. I've analyzed the positives, negatives, and the neutral. I now accept adoption as an imperfect system that needs reform to actually do good. With "I Understand My Dog", I tried to portray the emotional struggles many adoptees experience. My family has an adopted dog and he has so much separation anxiety. I think it's from adoption trauma and I can relate to that. Adoption is sometimes related to fog and I played around with that idea in my poem. Both my dog and I are described as being caught in that fog, wishing for "distant saviors", our birth families. I've read several pieces by other adoptees and many of them describe a "lonely place" or "broken place" where the hardships examined in my poem are experienced. I hope other adoptees reading my poem find comfort and validation. See you in August!
I'm fairly pleased with how my poetry has been progressing, but I definitely have a long way to go. I plan on focusing harder on form. I desire to work meter, alliteration, and other devices into my poetry. At the moment, most of my poems are free form and while I do realize, free form does not mean without form, my poems don't have much to begin with and I wish to change that. I've written a couple poems that I'm proud of. "The Hate Underneath" and one I haven't published yet called "The Forgetting" are my favorites. I'm excited to share with you the latter. As stated above, I have a lot of work to do to increase my poetry skills, but I'm willing to take the effort to progress. Thank you for reading and see you in March.
I've been writing poetry for a while, but I haven't been a big publisher of my poems. After "Asleep" was accepted by Wattpad's Official Poetry account, I decided it was time to share more of my poems. I've updated my profiles and am ready to share. I especially enjoy writing free verse, but I need to be in a certain mood. If I write when I'm not in an inspired mood, my writing usually isn't as good. It becomes difficult because sometimes you have to write even if you aren't ready to. Even so, I still love writing. So you're probably wondering how this blog is going to work. Well, it'll be set up just like my others. I post four times a year, once in March, June, September, and December. These will be my Big Updates. I might share sneak peeks of my poetry, my feelings on a certain poem, and all sorts of items related to poetry. If something happens in between those months, I'll post a small message. Enjoy!
