One of my favorite screenplays to write was "The Waiting Room", a story about these two siblings who were separated through foster care at a young age. I never thought about my inspiration behind much while I was writing it, but besides the fact it was based on a drawing from a Dixit game, the story line is based on my own life. As an adoptee who had a closed international adoption, I've always wondered who my biological family could be. My adoptive family is wonderful and I'm privileged to have them, but that sense of curiosity has never gone away. I know that I probably will never be able to meet by biological family, but I wanted to create a place where long-lost siblings could meet. That was the "Waiting Room". You are free to interpret the "Waiting Room" any way you want, but in my mind, I see it as a place for people who were separated to meet each other and get over that loss they've been trying to overcome their whole lives. The main characters, Josh and Melanie, explain that they were drawn to this place, explaining the search for understanding of that emptiness. Well, I hope you enjoyed as much as I did! If you haven't read it, check it out on Wattpad or AmazonScreenwriter. See you next time!
